Assigning an Action to a Control

You can assign actions to controls that lead to the performance of actions.

Prerequisites

You must create a control that supports actions, for example, a hyperlink or list item.

Task

Drag and drop the selected action from Screen Design > Palette > Actions on to the control on the device screen.
Note: If the control does not allow the drop action, it is a control that does not support actions.
You can also use the Property page to add actions to controls:
1. In the Property page for the Action, in the drop-down list to the right of the New button, select the type of action you want to create.
2. Enter the information in the Action dialog, and click OK.
  Note: You can highlight an action in the property page and right-click to copy and paste the action.
(Optional) Enter the information for the action in the action dialog.
The Exit, Logout, and Refresh actions do not have properties that you can configure, so do not have configuration dialogs.

Creating an Alert Action
Use the Screen Design page palette to create an alert action for the selected control.
Creating an Object Query Action
Add an object query action to a table or list detail control.
Creating an Operation Action
You can create an action based on the operation of a selected mobile business object.
Creating a Tab Activation Action
You can add a tab activation action to controls if the current screen contains a tab folder.
Creating a Connection Action
Use the Connection Action dialog to edit the connection type and screen for the action.
Creating a Synchronize Action
Use the Synchronization Action dialog to select a synchronization group and configure its mobile business object synchronization inputs.
Creating a Persist Action
Use the Persist Action dialog to configure the persistent values for variables.
Creating a Save Context Action
Add a Save Context action to a control.
Creating a Navigate Back Action
Add a navigate back action to a control so the user can go back to the original screen.
Integrating PIM Applications
Adding the BlackBerry or Windows Mobile PIM action to your controls allows your application to integrate with PIM applications like the calendar, address book, tasks, and memo.
Creating a BlackBerry Custom Action
Create a user coded action for BlackBerry devices.
Removing an Action
Use the Properties view to remove actions from controls.
Creating a Windows Mobile Custom Action
Create a user coded action for Windows Mobile devices.
