Integrating PIM Applications

Adding the BlackBerry or Windows Mobile PIM action to your controls allows your application to integrate with PIM applications like the calendar, address book, tasks, and memo.

Assign logical types to controls and mobile business object attributes that the PIM action will reference. The PIM action requires that the controls to which it is mapped have input fields, for example, edit box, choice, checkbox, and radio group.

PIM context menu items are ordered by alpha within a logical type scope. For example, if there are two phone numbers, one URL, and one e-mail address, the context menu appears like this on the device:

Once you map the fields and mobile business object attributes to logical types, add the PIM action to a control to which actions can be assigned, such as the button, hyperlink, list item, and menu item.

For example, to integrate a device application with the BlackBerry address book application, assign the Address Book as the logical type category and then select from the logical types such as First Name, Last Name and so on.
