Editing a GOA Archive

Specify the grid domain controller and grid server targets for deploying objects, configure whether objects from the archive overwrite existing objects on the target server, and set objects you do not want deployed to Do not deploy. You can modify a grid object archive at any time before you deploy it.

Prerequisites

Create a GOA archive.

Follow these steps to edit a GOA archive.

Note: You cannot add or remove objects from an archive. Instead, edit the inventory file and create a new archive.
  1. Double-click a .goa file in the Navigator view. If you have opened this file with a different editor, right-click it and select Open With > Grid Object Archive Editor. The archive opens in the GOA editor.
  2. (Optional.) Change the target grid domain controller for the archive.
    1. Select the GDC in the Grid Objects to Deploy pane.
    2. On the Properties tab in the bottom pane, click Change. The Grid Domain Controller dialog appears.
    3. Choose a GDC from the list and click Next.
    4. Click Finish.
  3. (Optional.) Map source grid servers to target grid servers. Mapping lets you deploy all the objects from a particular grid server in the source domain onto a particular grid server in the target domain. For example, you might map the server TestGS1 in your development domain to the server BostonGS1 in your production domain. When you use this approach, WorkSpace deploys all the grid objects that originated on TestGS1 to BostonGS1.
    1. Select the GDC in the Grid Objects to Deploy pane.
    2. On the Properties tab in the bottom pane, click Change. The Grid Domain Controller dialog appears.
    3. Choose the target GDC from the list and click Next.
    4. On the mapping page, click the name of the target grid server in the first row and pull down the menu. The menu lists grid servers in the target domain.
    5. Select the grid server on which you want to deploy objects from the source grid server.
    6. Repeat for the remaining source grid servers.
    7. Click Finish.
  4. (Optional.) Configure target grid servers for archive categories or individual objects.
    1. Select a category folder (Data Services, for example) or an object in the Grid Objects to Deploy pane.
    2. Click the Deploy tab in the Properties view in the bottom pane.
    3. If you selected a category, check Modify the grid server property.
    4. Choose a grid server from the Target Grid Server pull-down.
  5. (Optional.) Set the do not deploy flag. You can do this for the whole archive by selecting the GDC, for a category of objects by selecting the category folder (Database Connectors, for example), or for a particular grid object by selecting the object. Set the Do not deploy flag on objects that you want the archive to skip at deployment time. These objects are not deployed.
    1. Click the Deploy tab in the Properties view in the bottom pane.
    2. If you are configuring deploy behavior for a category, check Modify the deploy property.
    3. Click Do not deploy.
    4. If you are configuring overwrite behavior for the whole archive, click Modify All.
  6. (Optional.) Configure overwrite behavior. You can do this for the whole archive by selecting the GDC, for a category of objects by selecting the category folder (Database Connectors, for example), or for a particular grid object by selecting the object.
    1. Click the Deploy tab in the Properties view in the bottom pane.
    2. If you are configuring overwrite behavior for a category, check Modify the deploy property.
    3. Select an overwrite option:
Do not overwrite existing object If an identically named object exists on the target server, do not overwrite it with the object in the archive.
Overwrite existing object Deploy this object from the archive even when an identically named object already exists on the target server.
    4. If you are configuring overwrite behavior for the whole archive, click Modify All.
  7. To save the archive, type Ctrl+s or select File > Save.
Note: If you deploy before saving, unsaved changes in the archive are included in the deployment.
