Creating a GOA Archive

Use a grid object archiving (GOA) inventory to create a grid object archive containing copies of selected services and data sources from your Data Federation domain. After you have created an archive, you can store it as a backup or use it to redeploy the objects in another Data Federation domain.

Prerequisites

Before you can create a grid object archive, you must create a GOA inventory (.goi file).

Follow these steps to create an archive:

  1. Open the inventory (right-click the .goi file in the Navigator and select Open) and ensure it contains the objects you want to archive.
  2. (Optional) Verify that property overrides are set as desired. Properties and overrides are displayed in the Properties view, which by default is located in the pane below the GOA editor.
  3. To create the archive, right-click the .goi file in the Navigator and select Archive. Alternative: Select the GDC in the left pane of the editor, then click Archive in the right pane.
  4. Enter or browse for a project folder in which to store the archive, then click Finish. Make sure the file name extension is .goa. The archive (.goa file) appears in the Navigator view.
  5. To save the archive, type Ctrl+s or select File > Save.
