Archiving a Grid Object

Sybase Data Federation lets you create a host of tools and services—grid objects—that provision, integrate, and store data. Using the grid object archiving (GOA) tools, you can package and store many types of grid objects in archive files. Archived objects can serve as back-ups (which can be redeployed in the same grid domain if the need arises), or as copies that can be deployed in a different grid domain.

• Grid Object Archives
  Using grid object archiving (GOA) tools, you can package, store, and redeploy grid objects such as data services, database operations, SQL views, and database connectors. GOA tools are available in WorkSpace Data Federation and the CLI.
• Creating a GOA Inventory
  Use grid object archiving (GOA) tools to create or edit an inventory listing of grid objects. Later, you can create an archive file containing everything listed in the inventory.
• Creating a GOA Archive
  Use a grid object archiving (GOA) inventory to create a grid object archive containing copies of selected services and data sources from your Data Federation domain. After you have created an archive, you can store it as a backup or use it to redeploy the objects in another Data Federation domain.
• Setting Property Overrides in a GOA Archive
  Property overrides allow you to reconfigure database connectors and a few properties of other objects included in grid object archives. The new property values you supply are stored in the archive and take effect when objects are deployed. You can change property overrides at any time before you deploy objects from an archive.
• Editing a GOA Archive
  Specify the grid domain controller and grid server targets for deploying objects, configure whether objects from the archive overwrite existing objects on the target server, and set objects you do not want deployed to Do not deploy. You can modify a grid object archive at any time before you deploy it.
• Redeploying an Archived Grid Object
  Deploy an object in a grid object archive to a new Data Federation domain or restore it to its original domain.
