Checking Dependencies

Discover where a data service, database operation, virtual database operation, or SQL view gets its data from, or which other objects use its output.

Prerequisites 

Connect WorkSpace Data Federation to a grid domain controller.

Objects that can serve as input sources include data services, database operations, and virtual database operations. All of these objects depend on other objects for input—for example, a data service may depend on any number of files, SQL views, database operations, and even other data services. Sybase recommends that you investigate the dependencies of any input sources you use. It’s also a good idea to be aware of where the output of your data services and other objects is being used.

  1. In Enterprise Explorer, right-click on an object whose dependencies you want to learn about.
  2. Select View Dependencies from the context menu.

The dependencies view in the bottom pane displays information about objects that provide input to or receive output from the object you selected.
