Creating a Replication Server Connection Profile

Create a connection profile to connect to Replication Server.

Prerequisites 

Verify that the Replication Server and the associated database servers are running before trying to create a connection profile.

  1. In Enterprise Explorer, right-click the server type or enterprise resource for which you want to create a connection profile and select New.
  2. Enter a name and description for the connection profile, and click Next.

    Field Description
    Name Enter a unique and descriptive name for the connection profile.
    Description (Optional) Enter a profile description that helps you distinguish it from others.
    Auto-Connect at Startup (Optional) Connect automatically to the server and display its contents in Enterprise Explorer when Sybase WorkSpace starts.
  3. In the Specify a Driver and Connection Details page, enter the rest of the connection profile details.

    Field Description
    Select a driver from the drop-down Select a driver for your database. If no compatible driver exists, click [...] to open the Driver Definitions dialog and to select or define one.
    Host Enter the name of the machine on which the Replication Server resides.
    Port Enter the port number.
    User Name Enter the name of the authorized user.
    Password Enter the password for the database server login, if required.

    1. In the text box, specify connection properties using the KEY=value format, or choose from the drop-down list, and click Add.

      For example: DYNAMIC_PREPARE=true

    2. Use the Up, Down, Remove, and Clear All buttons to delete or change the order of the connection properties.
  4. To verify the Replication Server connection, click Test Connection.
  5. Click Next.
  6. Enter the connection information for the system database.

    Field Example
    Select a driver from the drop-down Select the Replication Server driver for your database. If no compatible driver exists, click [...] to define one.
    Host Enter the name of the machine on which the Replication Server system database resides.
    Port Enter the port number.
    User name Enter the name for the Replication Server system login. The default is your Replication Server connection profile name concatenated with "_RSSD_prim".

    For example: SAMPLE_RS_RSSD_prim

    Password Enter the password for the Replication Server system database login, if it is required. The default password is the user name you entered above concatenated with "_ps".

    For example: SAMPLE_RS_RSSD_prim_ps

      For example: DYNAMIC_PREPARE=true

    2. Use the Up, Down, Remove, and Clear All buttons to delete or change the order of the connection properties.
  7. Verify the Replication Server system database connection by pressing the Test Connection button.
  8. Click Finish to create the connection profile.

    The connection profile displays under the appropriate category in the Enterprise Explorer.
