Installing the Repository Web Browser

The Repository Web Browser allows you to view the contents of your repository in your standard web browser.

The PowerDesigner installation disc includes database access and web application layers that are required to browse your repository from the web, along with a standard Apache Tomcat web server. For maximum responsiveness, we recommend that you install the database access layer on the same machine as your repository database, while the web application layer can be installed on any appropriate machine.

• Installing the repository web browser software
  The PowerDesigner installation CD contains everything you need to install the Repository Web Browser. Before beginning the installation, you should already have created your repository database and have the DBMS user name and password to hand.
• Accessing the repository web browser web site
  You can start and stop the repository web server and the associated service by navigating to the server from your Start menu (by default, at Programs Sybase PowerDesigner Repository Web Server , and selecting the appropriate sub-item:
• Repository web browser security
  All passwords saved in the Repository configuration files are encrypted and are decrypted at runtime. User passwords are encrypted when making connection to the Repository.
