Basics

Basics topics describe user interface functionality. Topics describe perspectives, views, editors, resources, and other general Sybase WorkSpace user interface features and tasks.

Some features and tasks are provided by Eclipse functionality.

• Web Application Development Perspective
  The Web Application Development perspective contains views, editors, menus, shortcut bars, toolbars, creation wizards, and cheat sheets that assist you in developing Web applications using the JavaServer Faces (JSF) user interface.
• J2EE Perspective
  Use the J2EE perspective to develop resources for enterprise applications, such as EJB modules, Web modules, application client modules, and connector projects or modules.
• Web Application Development Palette
  Use the palette to add a new Web page, add controls to the Web page, and link Web pages and add actions to create a navigation flow.
• Web Application Project Templates
  Use a project template to add its component support to a new project.
• Web Application Development Views
  The following tables describe the default, fast, and optional views available for the Web Application Development perspective.
• Web Application Development Properties View
  Use the Properties view of the Web Application Development perspective to view and edit the properties of the selected item in the Web Page, JSF Application Configuration, Web.xml, or Resource Bundle editor.
• Servers View
  Use the Servers view to manage servers from a central location.
• Project Explorer
  The Project Explorer provides an integrated view of navigable models of J2EE deployment descriptors, Java artifacts (source folders, packages, and classes), navigable models of the available Web services, and specialized views of Web modules to simplify the development of dynamic Web applications.
• Web Application Development Editors
  Each Web Application editor contains tabbed pages where you build, design, edit, configure, and link the pages of a Web application.
• Viewing and Editing Web Application Source Code
  View and edit the XML source code of your Web application pages in the web.xml editor, the JSF Application Configuration editor, or the source section of the Web Page editor.
• Previewing a Web Page
  Preview the Web page display as it would appear in a browser.
• Saving Resources
  Save any changes you make to your Web page, project files, configuration files, and so on.
