Developing a Simple Web Application

After setting up your environment to create a Web application, follow the develop workflow described here to guide you through the process of developing a simple Web application.

1. Creating a Web Application Project
   A Web application must be developed in a Web application project.
2. Creating a Web Page
   Create a Web page using the Create a New Web Page wizard. You can also create a Web page by selecting Page on the palette associated with the JSF Application Configuration editor.
3. Adding a Control to a Web Page
   Use the Palette to drag and drop controls onto the Web page editor. You can also drag an image file, resource bundle file, and taglib file from the Enterprise Explorer or Windows Explorer and drop it onto the Web Page editor to create new HTML or JSF controls.
4. Defining Control Properties
   You must define the properties of a control that you add to a Web page.
5. Changing the Appearance of a Control
   After you add a control to your Web page, you can change its size and background color and the color, size, style, and decoration of its text font. You can also change the box type, border, positioning, page breaks, and the visual effect of the cursor.
6. Adding an Object to a Web Page
   Add an object, for example a DataWindow, to a Web page, edit the properties of the object, and bind the object to associated managed bean method or property.
7. Editing Object Properties
   Edit the object properties of an object that has been added to a Web page.
8. Previewing a Web Page
   Preview the Web page display as it would appear in a browser.
9. Configuring the faces-config xml File
   Configure, customize, and manage the faces-config.xml file using the JSF Application Configuration editor.
10. Configuring the web.xml File
    Use the web.xml editor to configure the Web.xml file for runtime depoloyment.
11. Linking Web Pages
    Link Web pages to create a Web application page flow.
