Basics topics describe user interface functionality. Topics describe perspectives, views, editors, resources, and other general Sybase WorkSpace user interface features and tasks.

Some features and tasks are provided by Eclipse functionality.

• User Interfaces and the Features They Support
  Sybase Data Federation has several user interfaces, including WorkSpace Data Federation, the web user interface, and the command line interface (CLI). This table shows which features you can access with each interface.
• Data Catalog
  The Sybase Data Federation data catalog is the shared, hierarchical directory where data owners and administrators can register their data sources, files, queries, and data integration services, and set access control and other policies. The data catalog is distributed and can scale across an enterprise. By interconnecting Data Federation domains, administrators can create data catalogs that span multiple enterprises while maintaining strict access control policies.
• Database Tools
  Sybase Data Federation provides a variety of tools for working with data stored in relational databases. These tools allow you to provision data into the data catalog and set access controls; and to integrate, combine, and transform data into the formats required by your users and applications.
• WorkSpace Data Federation
  WorkSpace Data Federation provides tools for several purposes: building and deploying data services to combine and transform relational data; defining sources of data to be used in data services; validating and enforcing schemas; and managing the data catalog.
