Creating a Metadata Model

You can create a new metadata model using WorkSpace Data Federation.

  1. Select File > New > Other .
  2. In the Select a Wizard window, open the Data Federation folder and double-click Metadata Model. The New Metadata Model wizard appears.
  3. Enter the following information into the fields on the wizard page:

    Field Description
    Container Click Browse to navigate to the project (container) where you want your new model to reside.
    File name Type a file name for the metadata model.
    Select a Grid Domain Controller A list of available GDCs displays. Select a GDC to host this metadata model.

    To ping the GDC, click Test Connection.

    If the ping fails, verify the GDC property values.

    If you have not yet configured a GDC, you can click New to open the Create a Data Federation GDC Connection Profile wizard.
  4. Click Finish. Data Federation creates and opens the metadata model in the editor.
