Developing with Android Reusable UI Components

MAF reusable controls allow you to use native Android UI controls (such as buttons and labels) that display a default SAP style, from a prebuilt library. You can skin these components at runtime to match customer branding, without recompiling the source code. MAF also contains a set of complex controls, such as the calendar, the tree view, and locale-aware controls. These complex controls, which provide additional runtime skinning capabilities, are built from the simple MAF controls.

• MAF Skinning
  The Mobile Application Framework delivers native UI controls. These controls can apply metadata-driven styles, or skins. Component skinning occurs at runtime, without requiring you to recompile or re-sign the application. The end result is company-branded mobile UIs for MAF-enabled enterprise application users.
• MAF Simple Controls
  The Android SDK provides many simple controls, which you can skin at runtime via the Mobile Application Framework. MAF ships a wrapper class for most native UI controls, which you can use to create easily adaptable UI controls. MAF controls support automatic styling at initialization.
• MAF Setting Screen
  The MAF Setting Screen component provides extensions to the Android standard preferences. Native preference controls can only handle string and Boolean values. MAF controls extend the native preferences by adding float, long, and integer datatype handling, and skinnability functionality.
• MAF Calendar
  The MAF Calendar component is a skinnable component that provides basic calendar functionalities. You can present predefined appointments in different views, such as month and day detailed views. You can also use this component to provide to device users the ability to select dates and times.  Users can also create, delete, or modify appointments through the MAF Calendar user interfaces.
• MAF Formatters
  MAF formatters are non-UI components that convert text values and numbers into phone numbers, dates, times, and currencies according to locale and country code settings. You can also format addresses by querying the order of the address fields based on locale settings and country codes.
• MAF Tree View
  The MAF Tree View component provides a UI representation of a hierarchical list. It can show list items, which can in turn contain child-node list items. MAF Tree View has two modes: a browsing mode, and an editing mode. MAF Tree View supports skinnability via the MAF skinning engine.
• MAF Locale-Aware Controls
  MAF locale-aware controls are complex graphical components for presenting and editing currency, phone numbers, and address information in localized input fields.
