Starting Sybase Central and connecting to the sample database (Linux Applications menu)

Sybase Central is a graphical tool that can be used as an alternative to SQL statements and command line utilities for managing your database servers, databases, and the objects they contain.

Prerequisites

A version of Linux that supports the Linux Applications menu.

The menu items are installed as part of the SQL Anywhere installation.

Linux.

 Start Sybase Central and connect to the sample database (Linux Applications menu)
  1. Click Applications » SQL Anywhere 12 » Administration Tools » Sybase Central.

    Sybase Central opens.

  2. Click Connections » Connect With SQL Anywhere 12.

  3. In the Action dropdown list, click Connect With An ODBC Data Source.

  4. Click ODBC Data Source Name, and then in the box below, type SQL Anywhere 12 Demo.

  5. Click Connect.

Results

Sybase Central is connected to the sample database.
