Figure 1-1 provides a sample two-tier TCP/IP environment. The Client Option is running in CICS region CICS1, and the Server Option is running in CICS2.
The Client Option has the capability to connect to an
Open Server running in the same CICS region.

In Figure 1-1, CICS1 has connections to:
CICS2, the region where Server Option is installed
A local area network (LAN) that has an Adaptive Servers (myserve1), and an Open Server (myserve5)
Client Option programs can send requests to Server Option and to any LAN server. Figure 1-1 shows Client Option prog11a and prog11b sending requests to Server Option prog12a and prog12b.
