Database Development

New features have been included for the SQL editor, the Execution Plan view, Schema Object Editor Configuration preferences, and Sybase IQ index advices. In addition, Database Development now supports user-defined functions and instead of triggers for Adaptive Server 15.0.2, dropping of multiple SQL objects, execute intelligent templates, SQL display of matching begin-end tokens, and connection profile driver templates.

Features identified in the following table provide summary level information about enhancements to functionality already documented. The features with links, listed below the table, document concepts and tasks for new functionality.

Feature location Feature description
Execution Plan view

From the Execution Plan view, you can now use Switch Plan Type to toggle between text and graphical query plan views for Adaptive Server. This eliminates the need to go to the preference page to switch between text and graphical views.

Schema Object Editor Configuration Preferences
Two new settings are available in the Schema Object Editor Configuration preference dialog:
  • Select Check schema object existence when editor activated to automatically verify the existence of the schema whenever the schema object editor is opened or activated. By default, this is unselected.
  • Select Open file after source saved as file to have the file automatically open in the SQL editor when it is saved.
Sybase IQ index advice

After creating an index advice, you can now clear the advice. Select Clear Advisor from the context menu of an index node and index folder of a Sybase IQ database to clear the advice.

Connection Profile Driver Templates for Adaptive Server, SQL Anywhere, and Sybase IQ To define default connection properties that can be reused for multiple, similar connection profiles, set the connectionProps property. This property is available for Adaptive Server, SQL Anywhere, or Sybase IQ driver definition templates.

Once defined for the driver template, the connection properties set in connectionProps are reused any time you select that driver for a database connection profile. This allows you to more efficiently define multiple connection profiles that use the same connection properties.

Add customized properties, delimited by commas, to connectionProps from the Edit Driver Definition dialog. See Setting Driver Definition Properties in the Database Development collection of the online documentation for detailed steps to launch this dialog.
