Creating a Log Janitor Task

Delete old log files and compress inactive log files.

Log janitor does not decompress logs it has already compressed.

  1. In the Enterprise Explorer, expand Sybase Search Servers > (Sybase Search Connection Profile) > Sybase Search Server > Schedules.
  2. Right-click Schedules and select New Log Janitor Task.
  3. Enter appropriate values for the fields that appear in the New Log Janitor Tasks wizard:

    Field

    Description

    Container

    Select a container ID for which you want to schedule the log janitor.

    Keep Daily Logs For

    Select the amount of time you to keep daily logs.

    Compress Non-active Logs

    Specify whether to compress inactive logs.

    Schedule

    Configure the time interval for the selected container.

    Every

    Specify when the task runs by entering a number and selecting one of:
    • Minute(s)
    • Hour(s)
    • Day(s)
    • Week(s)
    • Month(s)

    On The

    Select the day of the week you want the task to run.

    At

    Select the time of the day you want the task to run.

  4. Click Finish to add and run the new log janitor task at its scheduled interval.
