Creating a File System Document Store

Add one or more collection of documents from your local file system, including a mapped network drive or mounted remote file system into Sybase Search.

The file system document store accepts one or more directory roots. Sybase Search analyzes directories and subdirectories. Files with MIME types are then indexed. You can customize the list of valid MIME types. The directory paths must use a valid structure and exist for the target platform. For example, use "\" for Windows and "/" for UNIX.

  1. In the Enterprise Explorer, expand Sybase Search Servers > (Sybase Search Connection Profile) > Sybase Search Server > Document Stores.
  2. Right-click File System Import Manager and select New.
  3. Enter appropriate values for the fields that appear in the New File System Stores wizard:

    Field/Menu

    Description

    Name

    Enter a name for the document store.

    Document Group Non-members

    Lists the document groups of which the document store is not a member.

    Select a document group to associate it with the document store.

    Document Group Members

    Lists the document groups in which the document store is a member.

    Directories

    Lists one or more root directory whose contents are available for searching.

    Add

    Click to enter the path of the target directory.

    Include Subdirectories

    Select this option to index all subdirectories under the root directory.

    Remove

    Delete the selected root directory from the document store.

    Edit

    Remove all subdirectories from the root directory, or change the root directory path.

    File Type Filter

    Select this option, then enter the file extension or MIME type:


    • Select Include to index only documents of the specified file type.

    • Select Exclude to index documents except those of the specified file type.

  4. Click Finish to create the file system document store.
