Entering Message Definition Test Data

You can either enter test data or load data from a file.

  1. In the WorkSpace Navigator, double-click the message definition you want to work with.
  2. Select the Test Message tab.
  3. Enter test data or load data from a file.

The following table lists and describes the fields in the Enter Sample Data section.

Table 1. Enter Sample Data section
    Field Description
Data Source Displays the file path of the test data file you selected using the Browse button.
Browse Lets you specify the test message file. You do not have to load the file unless you need to edit it or view the contents.
Test Data tab Displays the test data from the data source file in text format. You can edit the data directly in the field.
Note: If your message contains data of an uneditable datatype, that is, any of the endian, IBM, or binary datatypes, the text displayed in the Test Data tab will not accurately represent the test data. In this case, the Test Data tab label appears as Test Data (Read-only), indicating you cannot edit the data.
Hex View Displays the test data in hexadecimal notation.
Load Loads or reloads the test data from the data source file so you can edit or view it, overwriting any edits you made in the Test Data tab.
Save Saves the current test data as a new data source file.
Clear All Resets the test data field and clears parser and serializer test results.
