Developing a Message Definition

To use custom wire format in a message service, develop a message definition.

1. Setting Message Definition Preferences
   Use message default preferences to define the global default properties of message definitions, fields, and containers.
2. Creating a Sybase Project
   You can create a Sybase project that contains folders and files to assist you in organizing and developing resources for your project.
3. Creating a Message Definition
   If you plan to use custom wire formats in a message service, create a message definition.
4. Adding a Container to a Message Definition
   A message definition is defined by its fields and containers. A field models a data element, for example, a postal code. A container can contain fields and other containers.
5. Adding a Field to a Message Definition
   A message definition is defined by its fields and containers. A field models a data element, for example, a postal code. A container can contain fields and other containers.
6. Saving a Message Definition
   Messages are automatically validated when a message definition is saved.
7. Generating Objects From a Message Definition
   Before you deploy a message definition, you must generate the runtime objects, including the XML Schema Definition (XSD), parser, serializer, and Java schema objects (JSOs).
8. Entering Message Definition Test Data
   You can either enter test data or load data from a file.
9. Testing a Message Definition
   Test a message definition to verify that its parser and serializer have the correct functionality.
