Developing a Replication System

Use Database Development and Replication Server to create a replication system.

A Replication Server maintains replicated data in multiple databases while ensuring the data integrity and consistency. Replication Server provides clients using databases in the replication system with local data access, thereby reducing load on the network and centralized computer systems.

  1. Installing and Configuring Replication Server
    Install Replication Server, then configure it to work with Sybase WorkSpace.
  2. Starting Replication Server
    After you install and configure Replication Server, you can start it.
  3. Creating a Replication Server Connection Profile
    Create a connection profile to connect to Replication Server.
  4. Creating a Replication Definition
    Create a replication definition to describe a replicated artifact. You can create replication definitions for databases, functions, or tables
  5. Creating a Replication Server Publication
    Create a Replication Server publication, which is a group of articles from the same primary database. A publication collects replication definitions for related tables or stored procedures, which enables you to subscribe to these replication definitions as a group.
  6. Creating a Replication Server Article
    A Replication Server article is an extension to a replication definition that allows table replication definitions or function replication definitions to be part of a publication.
  7. Creating a Replication Server Subscription
    Create a Replication Server subscription, which is a request for Replication Server to maintain a replicated copy of an object in a replicate database at a specified location.
