Creating a Replication Server Subscription

Create a Replication Server subscription, which is a request for Replication Server to maintain a replicated copy of an object in a replicate database at a specified location.

Prerequisites 

Make sure the Replication Server is running. Create and establish a connection to the server.

  1. Expand the tree for the Replication Server connection profile, right-click a primary database for which to create the replication definition, and select New Artifact.
  2. Select Subscription and click Next.
  3. Specify the replicate data location and subscription type.
    Field Description
    Replicate Location Select the Replicate Server and Replicate Database. Specify the replicate server and database:
    Subscription Type Select a subscription type: Table RepDef, Function RepDef, Database RepDef, or Publication.
    Replicate Data Location for Permission Granting Specify the replicate location at which to grant permissions.
    1. Select the Replicate Connection Profile Type.
    2. Select the Replicate Connection Profile Name. Click Create to create a new profile.
    3. Select the Replicate Server.
    4. Select the Replicate Database.
  4. Click Next, and specify naming, replication definition, and where criteria settings.
    Field Description
    Subscription Prefix and Suffix (Optional) Specify a prefix or suffix for the subscriptions.The default suffix is "_sub".
    Subscriptions Select subscriptions in the grid.
    • RepDef Name – displays the name of the replication definition for this subscription. This field is read-only.

    • Subscription – specify the subscription name.

      Materialization – specify materialization preferences for replicate tables: Without Materialization, Without Holdlock, Incrementally, and Atomic Materialization.

    • Grant Permission – grant permission for this subscription.

    • Truncate Table – enables the truncate table command for this subscription.

    Where Clause Set criteria for column or parameter values to be replicated in this subscription:
    • Name – select a column or parameter.
    • Operator – select a boolean operator from the drop-down menu.
    • Value – enter a value for the where-clause condition.
    Use Remove or Remove All to remove one or all clauses.
  5. Specify save and execution properties.
    Field Description
    Generate Script Generate a SQL file for the replication definition.
    Execute Immediately Execute the SQL code immediately. If you do not select this option, you must complete execution of the SQL file later to create the replication definition.
  6. Click Finish.
