Creating a Database Connection

Set up a primary and replicate database connection in a Data Assurance (DA) server.

  1. In the Perspective Resources view, select a DA server.
  2. Select Resource > Administration Console.
  3. Expand Data Assurance Server, then select Database Connections.
  4. Either:
    • Select Folder > Create Database Connection, or,
    • Click the button that appears when you select Database Connections, then select Create Database Connection.
  5. Specify the database connection information:
    Field Description
    Data Assurance server (Required) Name of the DA server from the drop-down list.
    Name

    (Required) Name of the database connection. Space is not allowed.

    Description

    A brief description to help you identify the database connection.

    Type

    (Required) Database type, which includes SAP® Adaptive Server® Enterprise (SAP® ASE), SAP ASE Cluster, Replication Server System Database (RSSD), Oracle, IQ, SAP HANA® database, Microsoft SQL Server, and IBM DB2.

    Agent

    (Required) The DA agent to use in connecting to the database. It can be a local agent that comes with the DA server installation, a remote agent that is defined in the Data Assurance Agent Connections, or a new remote agent that has yet to be defined.

    Database

    (Required) Name of the database to connect to.

    Host

    (Required) Name of the server where the database is residing.

    Port

    (Required) Port number of the database.

    Username

    (Required) database username.

    Password

    Database password.

    Properties

    The properties for JDBC connection.
    Note: Enter a number of extra JDBC properties to support SSL connections to SAP ASE.
  6. (Optional) Click Test to verify if you have specified the correct database information.
  7. Click OK.
The new database connection appears in the Database Connections table.
