Device Application Designer Preferences

Use the Preferences page to set Device Application Designer preferences for automatic screen creation, question dialogs, and font mappings.

Automatic creation

Use the automatic creation preferences to specify which screens to create automatically when you drag and drop a mobile business object onto the Flow Design page.

Preference Description
Show icons on the list item table of contents If selected an image in the list item is created.

Whether this option is selected or not, if the source screen of a non-alert type of connection is a Table of Contents screen, the connections will always be created. Menu items will, however, not be created. Instead, a list item with a connection action that points to the target screen is created.

Add a navigation bar to new screens When a new screen is added, a navigation bar will also be added.
Note the following:
  • This does not automatically add a navigation bar to a tab panel.
  • When using a user-created template, the navigation bar is not automatically added since the template is user-defined.
  • If you start editing a Device Application Designer document from the Screen Design, a new screen is added automatically, and a navigation bar will not be added.
  • If the navigation bar is in the first screen of application, the Back button is not available.
Add a toolbar when adding a grid or cell table If selected, when adding either a grid or cell table to the Screen Design, an empty toolbar will also be added.
Note: An empty toolbar causes a problem check if nothing is ever added.
Add a toolbar when adding a list details If selected, when adding a list details control to the Screen Design, an empty toolbar will also be added.
Note: An empty toolbar will cause a problem check if nothing is ever added. When you start adding operations like create, update, or delete, the problem check will add them into the toolbar if it exists.
New Connection
Create a menu item with a connection action for new connections Create a menu item in the source screen for a new connection with a name that matches the target screen name. If a menu item with the target screen name already exists, a common name is used instead.
Note: This does not apply to stock screens, screens with grid or cell tables, or a table of contents screen as the source screen.
Create a toolbar item with a connection action for new connections Create a toolbar item on the Screen Design with an action assigned for the new connection, with a name that matches the target screen. If a toolbar item with the target screen name already exists, a common name is used instead. The toolbar item is created only if a toolbar exists on the screen design. The toolbar icon is the target screen icon.
Note: This does not apply to stock screens, table of contents screens, tab-based screens, or screens with grid or cell tables.
Screen Creation – specify the screens that are created automatically when you add a mobile business object to the Flow Design.
Operations
  • Operations Screens
    • Pending Operations Screen – create a screen that displays mobile business object operations in tabular form.
    • Delete Operations Screen – create a screen that displays delete operations of mobile business objects in tabular form.
    • Logs Screen – create a screen that displays synchronization activity.
Relationships
  • Relationship Screens – create all relationship screens for a mobile business object table screen.
    • Relationship Automatic Screens – create all relationship automatic screens for the relationship screen. This recursively creates screens for each relationship screen.
General
  • Search Screen – create a search screen for the mobile business object table screen.
  • List Details Screen – create a list details screen for the mobile business object table screen.
  • Synchronization Screen – create a synchronization screen. A synchronization screen lists all of the mobile business objects used and allows you to selectively synchronize synchronization groups.

Do not ask these questions

Select the dialogs you do not want to display while designing the device application. For example, when deleting multiple screens or connections from the Flow Design, the confirmation dialog appears for each screen or connection you delete. If you do not want the dialog to display multiple times, select the options in the Flow Design section.
