Developing a Procedural Object

Use Database Development tools to create and update procedural objects, which include stored procedures, triggers, user-defined functions, and event handlers.

Procedural objects are the building blocks of your database application. Database Development assists you in building the shell, or skeleton, for procedural objects and provides tools for filling in the body of the object with the appropriate SQL syntax.

  1. Creating a Procedural Object
    Procedural objects standardize actions performed by more than one application program.
  2. Using Visual SQL
    Use Visual SQL to create select, insert, update, and delete statements from source code in SQL File Editor, SQL Scrapbook, and the Source page of the procedural object editors.
  3. Running a Procedural Object Using a Launch Configuration
    Use the Eclipse launch configuration mechanism to guide you through running stored procedures, triggers, SQL Anywhere user-defined functions, and SQL Anywhere events.
  4. Viewing SQL Results
    Use the SQL Results view to see the results of an executed SQL query or procedural object.
  5. Debugging a Procedural Object
    You can debug a procedural object after you set breakpoints.
