Database Connectors

A database connector enables database operations, SQL views, and ad-hoc queries to connect to a relational database.

To make relational data accessible to Sybase Data Federation, you must create an entry in the data catalog that represents a connection to a database. This kind of catalog entry is called a database connector.

A database connector encapsulates information about how to access a particular database, including the JDBC driver, connection string, user name, and password that Data Federation will use to connect to the database. You can also configure database connectors to support distributed transactions and to enable the use of ad-hoc queries and the provisioning of SQL views.

You can create database connectors using the web UI, the command line, or WorkSpace Data Federation.
