WorkSpace Data Federation provides a subset of data catalog management tools that enable you to manage access control, attributes, and categories.

The complete Sybase Data Federation tool set is available in the Data Federation web user interface, where in addition to the tasks you can perform in Enterprise Explorer, you can:

• Set up Data Federation shares.
• Manage caching and scheduling.
• Search the Data Federation domain.
• Configure and manage all types of Data Federation servers.

• Starting and Stopping a GDC
  A Data Federation domain must have at least one grid domain controller (GDC). Start and stop a GDC from the Start menu, with a command line script, or even from external tools (that is, run as a Windows service).
• Modifying an Access Control List
  Set permissions, change ownership, add users or groups to an access control list (ACL), or remove users or groups.
• Attribute Management
  Every item in the data catalog has attributes that describe and identify it. You can add attributes to help you search for and manage the contents of your data catalog.
• Category Management
  Categories let you simplify access to the contents of your data catalog.
• Setting Model Editor Preferences
  You can control the color and font that Data Federation uses to dislay graphical objects in your projects' model editors.
