Generate localized
device applications by localizing objects in
the Device Application Designer.
The Device Application Designer contains various items that you can localize, such as the names of screen controls, screens, alerts, and mobile business objects. You can localize the device application by creating locale properties files. You can then load, update, and generate localized device applications.
You can create or update resource bundles for the Device Application Designer using the resource keys in the localization properties file. The values for the resource keys are defined by the corresponding elements in the current Device Application Designer. You can also upload specific locale resource bundles into the Device Application Designer.
All locale properties files are saved in the same directory as the device application.
When localizing the Device Application Designer:
- Device application files that have names that begin with numbers or characters cannot be localized. You will receive an error when you generate the code. Make sure that any device application you want to localize does not have a file name that begins with a number or special character.
- If you localize the locale properties file manually with an external editor, you must make sure the file is encoded in ASCII so that the content can be correctly read and converted to Unicode.
- When you localize a device application containing a radio group, the radio buttons in that group cannot have duplicate names, otherwise, radio buttons that are named identically do not behave correctly. For example, if one of the radio buttons in the original device application is selected, the other radio button with the same name is also selected.
