Understanding and resolving Unwired WorkSpace validation errors helps ensure that mobile business objects (and the device applications that interact with them) perform as expected in an enterprise environment.
Validation rules are divided into sections based on where in the MBO life cycle (development, deployment, runtime) the validation rule applies and is enforced, and includes:
- Severity and message - There are two types of messages generated if a validation error occurs:
-
Warning messages - A non-fatal error that requires attention or a failure may occur at a later time.
-
Error messages - The operation being performed fails. You must resolve the error.
- Message - the actual error message, if any, generated should the validation rule be violated.
- Action - any additional details regarding the validation rule and how to resolve the error.
Note: Some validation errors can be identified in Unwired WorkSpace by the warning or error icon that appears within the context of the error. Examples include:
- If you add an unmapped parameter to an attribute in the Properties view, a warning icon and message appear in the properties view, and the warning icon also appears in the header of the MBO in the Mobile Application Diagram.
- Mobile application project folders in WorkSpace Navigator display warning or error icons should objects within the folder (MBOs, roles, personalization keys, and so on) be invalid. You can isolate the error by expanding the folder until you reach the object that is in error.
Other errors generate an error message, for example an error during deployment.
In general, be aware of warning and error icons and messages, and resolve them early in the development cycle so your MBOs behave as expected once deployed.
