A typical server installation installs Sybase IQ server and support components into a parent directory on the host machine.
The parent directory contains files, scripts, and other objects required to support Sybase IQ server.
You must set the $SYBASE variable to a directory on the file system before you can start the installer. Setting this variable also determines the parent installation directory. You can, however, specify another target directory during the install if you use the interactive GUI installer, or by changing the silent installation script if you perform a silent install.

The Sybase IQ installation directory is a child of $SYBASE directory called IQ-15_1.
This directory contains files, scripts, and other objects required to run Sybase IQ server. This document uses the variable $IQDIR15 to refer to the Sybase IQ installation directory.
