Installing Replication Agent software is only one part of the process of setting up a replication system.
Table 1-2 lists the major steps required to set up a replication system to replicate transactions from a non-Sybase primary database in an enterprise network.
Step |
To do this |
Refer to |
---|---|---|
1 |
Install the primary data server. The primary data server is the source of transactions to be replicated. |
|
2 |
Install the connectivity drivers for the primary database server. Install the correct JDBC driver for your primary database server. |
|
3 |
Install Replication Server and create connections. This includes:
|
|
4 |
Prepare to install Replication Agent.
|
|
5 |
Install the Replication Agent software. When installing the software:
|
|
6 |
Configure Replication Server and primary data server connections. This includes:

7 |
Set up the Replication Agent instance. This includes:

8 |
Prepare for replication. Refer to the checklist to verify that all the replication system components are in place before you start replication. |

9 |
Verify your replication system using Replication Agent test scripts (optional). Use the test scripts provided with Replication Agent to set up a test environment and verify replication from a primary database to a replicate database. |

Materialize subscriptions to primary data. For each subscription, this process:

11 |
Start replication. Put the Replication Agent instance in the Replicating state. |
