Installing Sybase IQ Client Tools on Windows
Log in to Windows using an account with Administrator privileges. Stop and shut down all programs.
Insert the Sybase IQ client installation DVD into the drive.
If the Sybase IQ installer does not start automatically, start Windows Explorer, change to your DVD drive, and choose the batch file to start the installer (setup32.bat or setup64.bat).
On the Welcome screen, click Next.
Choose the product edition you want to configure, then click Next.
Choose a location, then read and accept the license agreement. Click Next.
Follow the instructions on the screen.
Because Sybase distributes the 32-bit and 64-bit Windows client on the same installation CD, you can install the 32-bit client on a 64-bit machine. However, installing a client with a particular word size installs only those drivers that match the word size of that particular client. This means that 32-bit client installations only install 32-bit drivers; 64-bit client installations only install 64-bit drivers.
Although you can install the 32-bit client on a 64-bit machine, you must use a driver with the appropriate word size for a particular device or application. To use a 32-bit client application to connect to IQ, for example, you must use a 32-bit driver. 64-bit client applications require 64-bit drivers.
