In OpenSwitch terminology, a server is a remote application capable of receiving and processing TDS requests (the protocol used by clients to communicate with the OpenSwitch server), and returning results back to client applications; for example, Adaptive Server® Enterprise, Sybase® IQ, or any Sybase Open Server application.
A server is made available or visible to OpenSwitch via the configuration file at start-up specified in the [SERVER] section, or through registered procedures such as rp_pool_addserver.
