RAP stores current market data in an in-memory cache database. The in-memory database is populated using the SAP HANA (or ASE) Output adapter in the RAP sample project.
The in-memory aspect of the database allows for fast load and retrieval times. In addition, the in-memory database contains a separate memory space for traders who need up-to-the-second information, but who may not need the full historical data held in the historical database.
Quantitative analysts can access both real-time and historical data for trend analysis.
