Adding a DB File

Add a DB file to a dbspace.

Prerequisites
Space Admin authority is required.
Task

Follow these steps to add files to all shared dbspaces: IQ_SYSTEM_MAIN, IQ_SHARED_TEMP, and all user-defined dbspaces.

Note: Adding DB files to IQ_SYSTEM_MAIN synchronizes all running secondary nodes.
  1. In the Perspective Resources view, highlight the resource and select Resource > Administration Console.
  2. In the left pane of the Administration Console view, select IQ Servers > Space Management > DB Files.
  3. Hover the mouse pointer over DB files and click the arrow.
  4. Select New.
  5. In the DB Files view, select the name of the server and the name of the dbspace.
  6. Click Add.
  7. In the DB File Details view, specify:
    Option Description

    Logical name

    User-defined name of the dbspace.

    Path to physical file on disk

    Path to the physical file on disk.

    Raw device

    A checkmark specifies the file is on a raw device.

    File size

    (Optional) File size, in kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), or terabytes (TB), if the file is not a raw device.

    Reserve size

    (Optional) Reserve size, in kilobytes (KB), megabytes (MB), gigabytes (GB), or terabytes (TB).

    Mode

    Note: This option appears only if you are adding DB files to the IQ_SHARED_TEMP dbspace in a multiplex setup.
    (Optional)
    • Read Only
    • Force Read Write
    • Read Write
    Select Read Write mode for a DB file in a shared dbspace.
  8. Click OK to add the file.
  9. Click Finish.
