Server-initiated Versus Client-initiated Mobile Workflows

The server-initiated and client-initiated workflow models can co-exist within one workflow package.

A server-initiated workflow is always initiated by an e-mail notification. Unwired Server receives e-mail notifications from a master account and, in turn, delivers a workflow message to an individual device based on configured distribution and mobile business object (MBO) extraction rules.

With the client, or device-initiated workflow, the user can open the workflow form on his or her mobile device and create an MBO, which is then replayed against the linked server MBO package.
