The UninstallDeletePanel wizard prompts you to remove user files in GUI and console uninstalls. However, this option is not available in silent uninstall.
Shut down all servers prior to running the uninstall program. See “Starting and Stopping Servers” in the Configuration Guide.
The uninstall program is located in the following product specific directories:
uninstall/ASESuite
uninstall/PCClient
uninstall/SDK
uninstall/OpenServer
Launch the uninstall program by executing the following steps:
Change to the SYBASE directory.
Source the SYBASE.csh or SYBASE.sh as appropriate.
Execute the uninstall program by entering:
./_uninstall/ASESuite/uninstall
Once the Uninstall Welcome window displays, click Next to continue.
The component selection window displays with everything selected. Deselect components by clicking the check box and erasing the check mark. Click Next to continue.
A summary window displays what is about to be uninstalled. Click Next to continue.
A window displays indicating that the uninstallation process is being performed. There is no progress bar.
One or more pop-up displays may occur indicating that a file was modified after it was installed and requesting confirmation that it should be deleted.
When the uninstall process has completed a final window displays. Click Finish to exit the uninstall program.
There are five directories that the uninstall program cannot delete. These are _JVM (the Java VM, which is needed by the uninstall program) and the directories where the uninstall programs are located. You must delete these manually. The uninstall program does not delete database devices which may be in the SYBASE directory or elsewhere. Unless you are planning to reinstall Adaptive Server and re-use the database devices, you should delete them.
