Creating a Search Server Connection Profile

Create a new Search server connection profile to supply the runtime connection information of a Search server component.

Prerequisites

Ensure the Sybase Search server is up and running.

  1. In the Enterprise Explorer, right-click Sybase Search Servers and select New.
  2. Select Sybase Search and click Next.
  3. Complete the following information in the wizard pages:
    Table 1. Create Connection Profile

    Field

    Action

    Name

Enter a unique and descriptive name for the search connection profile. For example, "SRCHSRV01".

    Description

Enter a profile description that helps you distinguish it from others. For example, "Search Connection".

    Auto-Connect

Automatically connect to the server and display its contents in the Enterprise Explorer. A connection is established whenever you open the Enterprise Explorer.

Leave this option unselected to allow only manual connections

    Host

Indicates the IP address or the host name of the machine on which Sybase Search server is running.

    RMI Port

Indicates the default RMI registry on port 7000.

    Hub ID

Indicates the unique Hub ID suggested by WorkSpace. The ID is a value between 900 and 998, and is allocated from the WorkSpace preference store in a descending pattern. Ensure that the hub ID is unique across client instances.

If you are copying a connection profile, change the Hub ID from 998 to another unique value (for example 958); otherwise, the configuration of the original Hub ID displays.

    Test Connection

    Test your settings.

  4. Click Next.
  5. Review the Summary page and click Back to make changes or Finish to create the connection profile.
Note: If you change the connection properties of a connection profile that is already connected, the connection profile immediately disconnects from the resources and attempts to reconnect using the updated information.
