Backup Sybase Central repository before installing ASE

If Sybase servers are already installed in your environment, prior to installing the version of ASE provided with Sybase WorkSpace, back-up the Sybase Central .scRepository file. If you do not, the existing Sybase servers may no longer display in Sybase Central.

Complete the following prior to installing the version of ASE provided with Sybase WorkSpace:

  1. Back up the .scRepository file located in the Sybase Central 4.3 directory located in the directory where you installed other Sybase servers, such as ASE, SQL Anywhere, or Sybase IQ.
  2. Install Sybase WorkSpace 2.0, including any Sybase Developer Edition Servers.
  3. Using a text editor, merge the contents of the backed-up .scRepository file to the new .scRepository file.
