Testing a Web Page

Test a Web page you create on an existing or new server.

To test a Web page:
  1. In the WorkSpace Navigator, right-click the Web page and select Run.
  2. Do one of the following:
    Option Action
    Use an existing server
    1. Select Choose an Existing Server.
    2. Select the server.

      A description of the selected server displays under the list box.

      Note:

      To change the order of the server list, click the down arrow in the View By field to open its drop-down list and select to view by Name, Host name, Vendor, or Version.

    3. (Optional) Select Set Server as Project Default (Do Not Ask Again).
    Define a new server
    1. Select Manually Define a New Server.
    2. Either type the server host name or click the down-arrow in the Server host name field and select the server host from the drop-down list.
    3. Select or enter Select the server type.

      A description of the selected server displays under the list box.

      Note: To change the order of the server list, click the down arrow in the View By field to open its drop-down list and select to view by Name, Host name, Vendor, or Version.
    4. (Optional) Select Set Server as Project Default (Do Not Ask Again).
    5. Do one of the following:


      • Click Next.

        The New <servername> Connection Profile dialog appears with the server you created displayed in the Profile Name field.

      • Click Finish if you do not need to create a connection profile and skip the rest of this procedure.
    6. (Optional) Enter a description.
    7. (Optional) Select Auto-connect.
    8. Do one of the following:
      • Click Next.

        The Server Properties dialog appears with the Host, Port, Web Services Protocol, Web Services Port, and User Name fields populated.

      • Click Finish if EAServer uses the default port numbers, and you know the project you will run. Skip the rest of this procedure.
    9. Click in a field and change its information as needed.
    10. Enter a password.

      You must provide a user name and password to deploy the Web application to EAServer.

    11. (Optional) Click Browse and select a Startup Script.
      Note:

      If you set a Startup Script, you can start EAServer inside Web Application Development; otherwise, you must start EAServer manually outside of Web Application Development.

    12. (Optional) Enter any Script Arguments.
    13. Click Test Connection.

      A box appears stating whether the Ping succeeded. If the Ping fails, verify that the server name, HTTP port, IIOP port, user name, and password are correct.

  3. Click Next.
  4. (Optional) Do any of the following:
    Option Action
    Add a project to run on the server Select an Available project and click Add.
    Add all projects to run on the server Click Add All.
    Stop a project from running on the server Select a Configured project and click Remove.
    Stop all projects from running on the server Click Remove All.
  5. Click Finish.
