Viewing Log Files From Remote Servers

Install Agent Controller on the same machine as Sybase WorkSpace to view EAServer and Service Container log files located on remote machines.

Prerequisites

Review Agent Controller installation instructions available at the Getting Started with Agent Controller Web site.

You can view EAServer and Service Container log files in Sybase WorkSpace using the Log Viewer if the server is located on the same machine as Sybase WorkSpace. If you also want to view, analyze, and correlate EAServer and Service Container log files located on remote machines you must install, configure, and start Agent Controller.

  1. Download the TPTP Agent Controller Runtime version 4.4 from the Eclipse download Web site.
  2. Create an installation directory, 1 for example, and unzip the downloaded file to this directory.
  3. Configure Agent Controller by running AgentController\bin\SetConfig.bat.

    When prompted, ensure that:

    • You enter a valid JDK 1.5 installation location.
    • Enter ALL as the network access mode.
    • Configure other options as you wish, or accept the default settings.
  4. Copy the following two plugins from Sybase WorkSpace in to the Agent Controller plugins folder:
    • C:\Sybase\WorkSpace\sybase_workspace\services\eclipse\plugins\com.sybase.io.log.parser_1.0.0
    • C:\Sybase\WorkSpace\sybase_workspace\services\eclipse\plugins\com.sybase.easerver.log.parser_1.0.0
  5. Start Agent Controller by running AgentController\bin\ACServer.
