Virtual Database Operations

Virtual database operations query the Data Federation virtual database.

Virtual database operations, like regular database operations, execute SQL queries. While regular database operations query external databases, virtual database operations query the Data Federation virtual database. The virtual database is the collection of all SQL views (virtual tables) defined in the current Data Federation domain.

Use virtual database operations if you want to encapsulate and reuse SQL SELECT queries against either provisioned SQL views or SQL views generated from database operations or data services.

Virtual database operations, like other database operations, can be exposed and queried as SQL views.
