Client applications send requests to DirectConnect servers (or to other servers for forwarding to the DirectConnect server). Client requests can be sent through ODBC, DB-Library™, CT-Library, or Open Client™ applications, such as isql, Data Workbench®, APT Workbench™, and front-end products from independent software vendors.
The DirectConnect server provides the link between the DB2 UDB Options for CICS and IMS and their clients. Therefore, after the DB2 UDB Options for CICS and IMS are installed and configured, the clients do not need to consider communication issues with the DB2 UDB Options for CICS or IMS.
