The application itself negotiates with clients to resolve these issues:
The kinds of requests the client can make and the kinds of responses the Open Server application can return, if the application declines the defaults.
The security level at which the client and server communicate.
A client sends capabilities information after sending a login record. A client and the Open Server application must agree upon the set of possible requests and responses that can be sent on their particular connection. These capabilities must be established before any further requests or responses are sent. See “Capabilities” for details on capabilities.
