Figure 1-1 provides a sample two-tier TCP/IP environment. The Client Option is running in CICS region CICS1, and the Server Option is running in CICS2.
Using TCP/IP, the Client Option has the capability
to connect to an Open Server running in the same CICS region.

In Figure 1-1, CICS1 has connections to:
CICS2, the region where Server Option is installed
A local area network (LAN) that has an ASE (myserve1) and an Open Server (myserve5)
Client Option programs can send requests to Server Option and to any LAN server. Figure 1-1 shows Client Option prog11a and prog11b sending requests to Server Option prog12a and prog12b.
