Back up your current installation, and save copies of any changes
you made to default login and post-login scripts. Before you proceed, make sure the
backups are readable.
Check with your operating system vendor for information about the
latest operating system patches. Use the recommended operating system patch. Do not
use a patch that is earlier than the version suggested for your operating
system.
In Interactive SQL, run sp_iqcheckoptions on each database, and capture the output.
sp_iqcheckoptions generates a list of current database values
and options. Use these values to restore your database settings after you upgrade.
Validate your license against each database to ensure that your license maintenance
support is in (or near) compliance.
A server without a maintenance contract for more than a year will
not run. Validating your licenses ensures that your database functions correctly
after you install the SP. See the SySAM documentation
