Known Issues for Sybase Control Center

Sybase Control Center Scheduler can be blocked by product module collection processing in certain situations.

Sybase Control Center log displays repeating error messages similar to the following, and future collections are blocked until the blocking process is resolved:

Workaround: Once the blocking issue is resolved, Sybase Control Center Scheduler recovers automatically and continues to normal collection processing.

Sybase Control Center fails to start at the end of the installation and the installer does not install Sybase Unified Agent as a Windows service.

Workaround: You need to have administrator rights when performing installation on Windows or you can manually start Sybase Control Center.

Alert e-mail notification is sent again even after the alert has been resolved.

Workaround: You can safely ignore the e-mail notification after verifying that the alert status is "Completed".

Tabbed browsing does not work for Sybase Control Center.

The individual browser tabs all share the same authentication session, so tabbed browsing does not function correctly when you log in as a different user in different tabs.

Workaround: Use separate browser windows.

Permission issues with Sybase Control Center files.

Sybase Control Center is creating files in /tmp, which cause permission issues.

Workaround: Delete these files if you encounter problems when you start Sybase Control Center:
  • /tmp/org.hibernate.cache.UpdateTimestampsCache.data
  • /tmp/org.hibernate.cache.StandardQueryCache.data

Sybase Control Center resource icons do not always appear in the Perspective Resources view.

Workaround: None.

New alert subscriptions do not appear in the Subscriptions tab.

If you create an alert subscription and another user creates the same subscription with the same target e-mail address, the subscription created by the other user does not appear in the Subscriptions tab.

When using Firefox, an error message appears if you click the subscription panel for an alert that does not have a subscription.

When you open a resource Properties | Alert Management window, and click the subscription panel for an alert that has no subscriptions, you see an error.

Workaround: If using Windows, use Internet Explorer.

Modified resource information does not reflect in the Resource Explorer or in the Perspective Resources view.

Any modifications you made to the resource information through the Resource Properties window are not reflected in the Resource Explorer or in the Perspective Resources view.

Collection jobs encounter an exception error when SQL Anywhere is shut down.

When shutting down Sybase Control Center, running collection jobs encounter an exception error if SQL Anywhere is shut down before the collections are stopped.

Workaround: You can safely ignore this error.

Collections show blank descriptions.

In the Collection Information window, the description column for the listed collections is blank.

Workaround: None.

Resource context menu is missing option items when the cursor is busy.

When the busy cursor appears, the context menu for a resource in the Perspective Resources displays only Print, Settings, and About Adobe Flash Player. All the resource-specific menu items are missing.

Workaround: Wait until the cursor returns to its normal state.

The Statistics Chart displays negative values.

The scale in the Statistics Chart may display negative values even if there are no negative data values.

Workaround: Clear the graph and regraph the key performance indicators (KPIs).

Deleting an alert does not delete its history.

When you drop an alert definition, then recreate it from the Properties | Alert Management window, it still appears in the History tab.

Workaround: None.

You cannot remove a single key performance indicators (KPIs) from the Statistics Chart.

When using the Statistics Chart, there is no way to remove a single KPI. You can only clear all graphed KPIs.

Workaround: Clear all and add only the KPIs you want to use.

Resource Authenticate option does not work in Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) if you are using Adobe Flash 9.

When you use RHEL and Adobe Flash 9 in Firefox 2 or 3, the Authenticate context menu option in both Adaptive Server and Replication Server does not work.

Workaround: If you are using RHEL, use Adobe Flash 10.

Note: Adobe Flash 10 is not supported on RHEL 4 or earlier.

In Sybase Control Center, you cannot return to the previous window.

Sybase Control Center has hyperlinks that allow you to navigate to a new window, but there is no way to return to the window you navigated from.

Workaround: Click on the previously visited window in the navigation menu to return to that window.
