Remote User Properties window: SQL Remote tab

This tab has the following components:

  • Message type   Lets you select a message type for communicating with the publisher.

  • Address   Provides a place for you to type the remote address of the remote user. The address is a string, according to the specified message type, to which the replication messages should be sent for the user.

For information about what address to use with a specific message type, see SQL Remote message systems.

  • Send Frequency   Specifies how frequently messages should be sent.

    • Send then close   Sets the replication frequency so that the publisher's SQL Remote Message Agent utility (dbremote) runs once, sends all pending messages to the remote group, and then shuts down. This means that dbremote must be restarted each time the publisher wants to send messages.

In most replication setups, this option is not used for sending publications from the consolidated publisher to the remote group.

    • Send every   Sets the replication frequency so that the publisher's agent runs continuously, sending messages to the remotes at the specified periodic interval.

    • Send daily at   Sets the replication frequency so that the publisher's dbremote runs continuously, sending messages to the remotes each day at the specified time.
