Options window: Update Checker

You can configure whether SQL Anywhere should check for software updates and how often it should do so.

You can check for updates any time by choosing Start » Programs » SQL Anywhere 12 » Check For Updates and from the Sybase Central, Interactive SQL, and SQL Anywhere Console utility (dbconsole) Help menus.

This page has the following components:

  • When to check for updates?   Choose one of the following options to specify how often SQL Anywhere should check for updates.

    • On application startup   Select this option if you want SQL Anywhere to check for updates each time Interactive SQL, Sybase Central, or the SQL Anywhere Console utility (dbconsole) is started.

    • Daily   Select this option if you want SQL Anywhere to check for updates the first time either Interactive SQL, Sybase Central, or the SQL Anywhere Console utility (dbconsole) is started each day. This is the default.

    • Weekly   Select this option if you want SQL Anywhere to check for updates the first time either Interactive SQL, Sybase Central, or the SQL Anywhere Console utility (dbconsole) is started each week.

    • Monthly   Select this option if you want SQL Anywhere to check for updates the first time either Interactive SQL, Sybase Central, or the SQL Anywhere Console utility (dbconsole) is started each month.

    • Never   Select this option if you do not want SQL Anywhere to check for updates.

  • What to check for?   Choose any combination of the following options to specify what types of updates SQL Anywhere should check for. By default, the following options are selected:

    • Bug Fixes   Select this option if you want SQL Anywhere to check for express bug fixes.

    • Maintenance Releases   Select this option if you want SQL Anywhere to check for maintenance releases of the software.

    • Other Information (may include product or other news)   Select this option to check for other information, such as new product releases or upcoming events.
