Installing or upgrading through ActiveSync

Microsoft OS devices that synchronize through a cradle connected to your Windows 2000 or Windows XP desktop use ActiveSync.

Microsoft OS devices that synchronize in any of the following ways to not use ActiveSync:

  • Wireless mobile devices that synchronize wirelessly, without going through a Windows desktop on a different PC, laptop, or tablet PC. Mobile phones work this way.

  • Devices that synchronize directly through the Windows desktop where M-Business Client is installed. Laptops and tablet PCs work this way.

  • Devices that synchronize through a Windows Vista desktop. Laptops and tablet PCs running Windows Vista work this way.

To install or upgrade M-Business Client through ActiveSync

  1. Follow the procedure outlined for Installing M-Business Client with self-registration or Installing M-Business Client to use with an existing account or, for upgrades only, Automatic upgrade of M-Business Client.

  2. When the installation or upgrade has completed, remove your device from its cradle and then replace it in the cradle.

    This is necessary to reengage ActiveSync so that your device is ready to synchronize.
